Do you have certified marine batteries for insurance/safety compliance?
Yes. Our marine batteries carry, CE, UL, UN38.3, MSDS certifications. Insurance requirements vary by vessel type and region. Provide your target market and vessel class to our sales team, and we will help you determine which certifications apply or can be supported.

Does cold weather affect performance?
Standard version discharges down to -20°C, but charging requires temperatures above 0°C. For cold‑climate cruising, we recommend the optional self‑heating function: when a charger is connected below 0°C, the battery warms itself to a safe charging temperature – enabling reliable charging down to -30°C.

Can I install the battery in the bilge? Where water might accumulate?
Yes. IP67 allows submersion in 1m of water for 30 minutes, so a bilge with occasional water is acceptable. However, ensure adequate ventilation to prevent heat buildup, and avoid long‑term immersion of terminals. For permanent bilge installations, consider adding a drip cover.

What is the lifespan of Polinovel marine battery in saltwater environment?
4,000+ cycles at 80% depth of discharge (DoD). For a typical weekend boater (one trip per week), this translates to 20+ years. The IP67 rating provides excellent protection against salt spray and moisture, but we still recommend regular visual inspection and terminal cleaning as good practice.
-
Is Polinovel battery compatible with my existing onboard charger (e.g., ProMariner, NOCO, Minn Kota)?
Most modern smart chargers have a LiFePO₄ profile (termination voltage 14.2–14.6V). Check your charger’s manual for lithium compatibility before connection. If your charger is not lithium-compatible, we recommend adding a DC‑DC charger between the alternator and the battery. For AC chargers, replace or upgrade.
-
Can I use a single battery for both starting my engine and running my trolling motor?
Yes – our DUAL Series is designed for this application. For short trolling sessions (less than half a day) and light electronics, a single DUAL 105Ah is a good starting point. For extended trolling (half a day or more) or heavy loads, we recommend separate battery banks for starting and trolling.

I have an outboard with a pull-start backup. Do I still need a dedicated starting battery?
Yes. Electronics (fish finder, GPS, VHF, bilge pump) require a stable deep-cycle power source – a pull-start doesn’t support them. You can choose either a single dual-purpose battery (start + deep cycle) or separate starter and house banks, depending on your budget and weight constraints.
